Enchanted Makeovers Takes Message of Inner Beauty to Cleveland!!!

A Mother’s Day event co-hosted by Art on Wheels Inc. and The Plaid Pony will help women at Laura’s Home Women’s Crisis Center explore their sense of purpose and creative passions.

TAYLOR, MI — Enchanted Makeovers (www.enchantedmakeovers.org), the Michigan-based nonprofit dedicated to transforming shelters for women and children into heartwarming havens, is continuing its 2010 Beauty and Hope National Tour with a special Mother’s Day event for women at Laura’s Home Women’s Crisis Center in Cleveland on May 7th and 8th. Co-hosted by the Cleveland-based nonprofit Art on Wheels Inc. (www.aowinc.com) and The Plaid Pony (www.jgarmon.com), the two-day event will help women taking refuge at the center in Cleveland explore their inner beauty and pursue their creative passions.

“Our society glamorizes outward beauty, but true beauty comes from within,” says Terry Grahl, founder and president of Enchanted Makeovers. “All women are beautiful. We want to celebrate our inner beauty and inspire women from all backgrounds and walks of life to find their purpose by focusing on their God-given abilities and talents.”

The Cleveland event will feature a photo shoot with professional photographer Britni Wilson, of Inspire Somebody, who will capture a black-and-white portrait of each woman. The women will then create a two-dimensional landscape work of art under the guidance of professional artists Carolina Martin, of Art on Wheels, and Julia Garmon, of The Plaid Pony. Each woman’s unique artwork will be framed with her portrait and displayed on the walls of Laura’s Home Women’s Crisis Center as a lasting testament to the real meaning of beauty and a source of inspiration for other women taking refuge in the center.

The event will also feature an uplifting session led by DesAnn Collins, of Design by DesAnn (www.designbydesann.com), who will share her personal journey of courage and faith. The event will be a time of fellowship and creative discovery designed to leave all participants encouraged and empowered to explore their own inner beauty.

The Inner Beauty event is being sponsored in part by Sunset Shores Bed & Breakfast in nearby Avon Lake, Ohio (www.sunsetshoresbb.com).

Enchanted Makeovers is still seeking monetary donations to print 50-8 x 10 portraits; scrapbooking supplies, handmade decorative and inspirational items for the crisis center; and personal and practical gifts for the women and children taking refuge at the center.

About Laura’s Home Women’s Crisis Center:

Laura’s Home Women’s Crisis Center (www.thecitymission.org/laurashome.htm) serves women and children who are in crisis (and often dealing with multiple crises in their lives). The term “homeless” is sometimes used to describe their situation, but their reality is often more complex than simply not having a place to sleep indoors. The center provides a bridge to the local church and community by providing safety, security and stability to some of the most vulnerable in our society and provide hope that their future does not have to be same as their past.

About Enchanted Makeovers:

Enchanted Makeovers, headquartered in Taylor, Mich., is an internationally recognized nonprofit organization that transforms shelters for women and children into heartwarming havens. In addition to facilitating complete shelter makeovers, the organization also coordinates events and assists with outreach efforts to women and children in shelters. Serving as a catalyst for change since 2007, Enchanted Makeovers relies on donations of time, talents and funding from individuals, businesses and corporations to realize each shelter makeover, event and outreach. The organization launched the 2010 Beauty and Hope National Tour with a New York City shelter event in January to raise awareness about the plight of women and children in shelters and to encourage volunteers to take action. The Inner Beauty event in Cleveland is the third of six planned national events on the 2010 tour. For more information, visit www.enchantedmakeovers.org.
