Today was Floating day! The above photo is not our horse, but it is what we had the pleasure of viewing for the majority of our barn day. Cash’s mouth was deemed pretty healthy, especially for a cribber with only a couple of points to adjust and some tartar to remove. He should be another step closer to a happy pony.

In horses, cheek teeth slowly erupt over time to compensate for the constant grinding when they eat. When they wear unevenly they create hooks and points that can cause sores and some serious pain. The vet was kind enough to show us the places that were already developing sores and the causes of them.

WOAH, now that gives me a new appreciation for the dentist! Really interesting, didn’t know that their teeth went so far back! So glad our boy is doing so well : o )
